Unit 8 - Initial Ideas + Mind-maps

Here is some of the ideas I have thought about possibly producing for my final major project (FMP)

I want all my concept ideas to have a link to technology and how it can play a huge part in someones life either for the better or the worse.

Below is some little draft ideas I have thought about pursuing along with some notes that I had written about each idea and all the possible outcome features it could have in it.

Idea 1

A woman who is a catfish and uses someone else's pictures online to exploit people for money and other services. The term catfish :

A catfish is someone's main purpose is to pretend to be someone they're not over the internet or other social media devices.

Genre : Drama (Short Film)

The Genre of the film would be Drama, focusing more and deeply on the problems of technology and how it can have a huge negative impact on someone's life, to the point where they're abusing a social media site and finding ways to interact with people, whilst exploiting them.

Their has been many accounts and occasions recorded where people have been scammed, due to being involved in a relationship online and being manipulated into sending money to someone, resulting in the sender of the money being broke and penniless, all because they were tricked by someone who thought cared and loved them.

The catfish would normally ask for money pretending they're in a crisis situation or pretending they're unwell in order to get sympathy from the person they are scamming.

If I do pick this idea I plan to make it a serious and dramatic short film, highlighting these problems.

Target Audience : 18-22

I chose this age group specifically because I feel like a lot of young adults could relate to this situation, as the situations occur a lot for older people and the younger generation, where people are deceived and made to believe they're talking to someone who they know, when it is someone else in disguise.

It happens a lot and quite frequently on the internet where some people tend to use celebrities picture and use them to hide behind a screen and cause mayhem, being a popular term what people call '' an internet troll'' causing havoc and creating drama for no significant reason other than doing so, to seek attention.

Idea 2

The life of someone who changes into the complete opposite of her personality, once clicking on a social media app. An example ➵ (Someone who is happy and positive turns evil when clicking on the app)

Genre : Comedy Drama

(Short Film)

For this idea I was thinking of producing a short film where it shows the life of someone and how their personality rapidly and instantly changes once opening a social media app, but instead of it being all consequential I want it have a comedic side and show both features of a drama and a comedy.

I want to show in this idea how using social media causes people to change without people actually acknowledging or being aware of this change, but in this idea I would want the themes of it to be not as serious and more over-exaggerated, due to the fact that in real life you can't actually switch personalities on an app, its just not realistic or common. (thus my reason for making it more over-exaggerated)

Target Audience : 16-18

I chose this age group because I feel like it would be the perfect age for people who I believe would be attracted to this idea or would want to see my video. I feel like anything younger of this age group would not find this idea amusing, as even though it would be a comedy it could not be entertaining to someone of a young and immature age. I feel like 15 year olds would find more animated comedy better.

The next step after this is to decided what idea I want to pursue and start the process of creating my synopsis, letting you guys know my final decision and what features my final idea will contain.
