1st day of shooting our music video
Recording in King George's park
On the 1st day of shooting our music video, we had decided to shoot in these locations :
below you can see all the photos that were taken in the pre-production phase (before recording, setting up) and when it came to finding out the specific shots that my classmates wanted to obtain. These pictures were taken by another classmate called Tatum

On this day the shots that we really wanted to capture and record were the chorus scene, the relationships between two performers, another chorus scene but in a different location (the car park) and last but not least a shot where Pedro is doing his guitar solo.

In the picture you can see the different types of roles people had and what types of shots people were trying their best to obtain. You can see Federica holding the fig rig and testing different types of shots. You can see the set up that people had before recording and the different types of equipment we had.
Picture of everyone in the Car park

Later on in the day we had decided to finally record Pedro's guitar solo scene in the Car park and the other chorus scene. We wanted to make sure that the Car park had good lighting and was heavily lit so we bought two studio lights. We also had bought down a dolley that Emma had quickly produced before going down to the Car park.
When it came to recording Pedro's guitar solo we wanted to make sure we had a variety of shots, so we recorded him performing in these angles :
A high angle
A medium shot
Close up (of the face and guitar)

Some of the pictures I got of Pedro performing with his guitar....
Noiella, Federica and Sanchia also made sure to use fig rigs when he was performing just so, that we had a variety of side angle shots that we could all use in our final edit, recording him also on opposite sides too.
2nd day of shooting our music video
Recording in the television studio + recording the behind college

(The photo I had taken, just before the performers were about to begin their choreography)
Dear Diary,
When it came to the 2nd day of shooting our music video, the first location we started to focus and get our shots on, was the blue wall that was located at the back of the college. This location was where we wanted to shoot the relationship scene between Paris and Simon. In the song they had their own specific choreography that went a long and contributed to a verse so we had to ensure that we had this recorded, so it could be added further on when we have to edit the music video.
Here is some video footage of behind the scenes when me and some of my other classmates were recording this particular scene ......
In the video you can see the different types of angles me and my other classmates tried their best to get, such as you can see Tatum trying to get a medium shot, Sanchia and Federica trying to get a low angled shot and a close up shot by remaining on the ground. Also off camera their was other people helping such as well such as Noiella who was as well attempting to get a medium shot but in a different angle than Tatum's
The recording process did take some time, as some of the performers had to go other their choreography and made sure that they were doing it accurately to the music, as their was music being played over it. Their was times where they had faults and almost accidents with Paris stating how she almost hit her head on the wall, but other than that they were no other accidents or problems. Eventually we got all the footage we needed!
In the recording process they were both so kind and helpful trying their best to give us what we needed.
On the 2nd day of shooting we had also gotten the chance to record in the television studio. In the television studio are ultimate aim was to record scenes that included the whole group dance of the chorus and the separate relationship scenes that mostly involved two people.
The picture I took of the high angled set up we had put the camera in before recording the two relationships scenes....

In this picture we was doing the most to get a shot where you could not see the ceeling of the room, as some of the footage we had recorded when the dancers were dancing, made the dancers be either cut out of the frame shot or even made the ceiling more present, so we was trying our best to prevent this from occurring again in our shot.
Experimenting with shots again!
Below is a video that I had recorded which shows Sanchia and Noiella experimenting with the different types of pans shots we could have, using a office wheel chair and the assistance of Noiella pushing Sanchia along and across the dancers.
This video was when we was also deciding on what back drop we could use for the chorus scene.
In the meetings we had before with the performing arts students they said they wanted a white wall, but because we did not have one available, they tried and wanted to see what the footage would look like using this white sheet instead, which was already available in the TV studio.
Using the Green screen instead!

The photo I took when I was recording the dancers doing their chorus choreography setting the camera in a medium shot, just to see what it would look like.
We was originally going to use the white sheet background for the music video, but was told by the teacher that in-fact the green wall looked more clear and was a very nice vibrant color that made the dancers stand out, resulting in this change.
On this day we had successfully managed to record the scenes we wanted which was the two relationships scenes and the dance choreography to the chorus, overall it did take a long duration of time to do so, approximately 30 minutes but we had eventually gotten all the shots that we needed!
3rd day of shooting our music video
Recording in the theatre
On the 3rd day of shooting we was recording in the theatre room, which was heavily lit and ready for the dancers to perform in. On this day we was trying to record some relationship scenes that involved trio's and duo's either dancing or posing. We also wanted to get another scene of the performers dancing to the chorus. When I first came in I was put in the back and asked to watch and observe the performance, but later on I got the chance to with Sherene to get some dolley shots, at first Noiella was doing so and Bolaji and Andre, but we decided to ask if we could and got the chance to take over and get some more shots.
I also later on in the evening, got the chance to stay on the ground floor and help Tatum obtain some shots that involved the relationship scenes when they were doing their still moving shots and some of their performances.
Sanchia and Tatum mostly remained in the back sorting out getting shots from a higher and more up close angle, whilst also being in charge of telling the sound guy when to play the music. Later on they went on the ground floor as well, where Sanchia got hand-held footage using her own personal camera and Tatum using the Canon, later on like I said before, I was asked to help her in gaining some high angled shots.
In conclusion to this project, I am very glad that I got the experience to do this. It's my first time ever working on a large music group with my classmates, so doing this was quite the experience. This task has taught me to be more focused and more determined to get things done, despite how stressful and challenging they might be. It has also taught me how to handle being in a busy, long and fast paced environment. All that is next after this is to edit it!
