UNIT 6 January 4th 2017 - Meeting with the performing arts students
Dear Diary,
Today is the day that we began meeting up with the performing arts students, regarding our mini project we will be making which is a music video. I was given the opportunity to hear their song Demon dogs and compare it to what the other level 2 students did last year.
Name : Demon Dogs
Theme : ♡ Love ♡
Below is some of the ideas that they wanted to consider for their music video.
Notes ....
Colors : Some people said they wanted the music video to be colorful as the theme is love, so they wanted bright and vibrant colors presented throughout the video.
Some people disagreed saying that they would prefer the video be in black and white instead ..
- Because the theme is love someone suggest that the it could be about the LGBT which stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender/Transexual, (showing the narrative of a couple of someone of the same sex) however they were some people who thought that it would be weird to do so, as the song was full of duets for a man and a woman.
Another person thought :
- They could be a narrative of two people falling in love and going on romantic dates, as they go on more and more dates they fall even more deeply in love with each other.
We can show them going to the cinema, or even at a restaurant.
Possible locations the music video could be in :
- Hampton Court, as the surroundings there is romantic, having roses and statues and well built buildings similar to the structure of a castle. - Fairy tale - Strongly connecting to the theme which is love.
- Perhaps some Parkour shots
- One of the students said they would love to see scenes of a carousel, as one of the lyrics has the word carousel in it. So one of the locations could be in South Bank and we could get a shot of someone on a carousel.
The main idea is that we don't want to shoot the music video in college, as it would not look professional at all, in-fact it would look quite mediocre. In this project we want to explore many locations in which we can shoot in, so we can make the music video better than the last one.
Wednesday 11th January - 2nd Meeting with the performing arts people
On this day we went over ideas again regarding the set of the music video. We was shown several different choreographies the performers had made from their physical theatre performance, and the ways it could be linked to the music video. Many of the students had a lot to say and had different ideas, some even wanted to develop more on the ideas.
When we saw the choreographies we added the song Demon dogs over it and teacher discussed what moves she felt went well with the song and what didn't clash well. She felt that the students should come up with a new choreography, as some of the dancing was deep and emotional whereas the song was the complete opposite, happy and chirpy.
We was given another copy of the lyrics as well.
Their Concept -
Their idea is that they wanted to show several pictures in a book and present movement through it, showing the different types of scenarios of people who are in love wether its a family loving relationship or a couple, showing this through dance in either duets, trio's and solo's. The class also wanted to add a scene where a forest is a location, they chose this location because they wanted a contrast between each location and because they thought it would look aesthetically pleasing.
The students felt that having a white room would look ''nice'' especially if they're planning to wear bright colorful clothing. - Making this their second location.
So overall, their is many locations the students want to have in their music videos
- A forest
- White room - An appearance of a carousel
More ideas people had discussed ....
- One person said to develop on this idea we could make someone hold the book, showing only their hands, make the book drop on the floor, so all the pictures come out which could make a good transition for a group dance.
- In this meeting when it came to the carousel concept, the teacher said that instead of shooting a real-life one, we could get a miniature one that could be captured and shot in a way that could make it appear realistic and life-like.
Here is a recording of the meeting and all the subjects the class and the teacher had discussed on. The meeting lasted for an hour.
Below is another video of Noella discussing the final idea outline for the music video....
