Dear Diary,

Today is the day that I have begun creating my logo on the software adobe photoshop and Premier Pro. Creating this logo was a good experience, as it allowed me to use Photoshop more and enhance my skills on it. To be honest I haven't really used photoshop that much, so doing it on this software really helped me get used to the basic functions on this software. I have had previous experience with softwares alike to photoshop such as Gimp but other than that nothing of Photoshop.

When I was on Photoshop I did get more used to the basic tools and functions on it, and learned quite a lot with the help of my tutor. Not only did I learn more of the basic functions, I also learned the more about the complex options and tools on Photoshop, which overall I am quite pleased about.

Below is some pictures of the editing process

At first I did encounter some problems when editing and creating my logo. It was quite a difficult experience, as when I first tried to structure the eye and fill it in, it looked quite mediocre and child-like, as the colours weren't blended properly and the lines dividing them were not straight, also the eyelashes did not look realistic and the lines were not straight either.

I really wanted my logo to look professional, so I had decided to scrap the eye and try experimenting with it, so I again used the eye template and started from the beginning.

Later on whilst experimenting I realised that their was a more easier way to make the colours more solid and the lines straighter -

(which could also be used to form eyelashes)

Bucket tool ↑

All that was needed was for me to do, is to use the bucket tool and fill in the areas.

and for the lines I could create them using a shape template making them look straighter and thicker than my other lines. Using a shape template helped also create the eyelashes and helped made them look more straighter and more flared out.

When filling in the eye with colours it was not as easy as i thought it was going to be, as it kept on changing the colour of the whole eye completely. I just wanted the inside of the eyes to be colourful not the whole eye. After trying and trying again, I had managed to finally get the colours in the sections that were needed. - (all I needed to do was to change the layer)

Here is a time-lapse of me creating my logo on photoshop

Animating it on Premier Pro

Animating my logo on Premier Pro was very uncomplicated, all that was needed to do was, to just drag the pictures and speed them up, and if the size of the logo was too big all I needed to do was to make it smaller. - (with the scale setting in effects control) - Premier Pro.

For the animation part I wanted my logo to blink and I wanted the colour of the eyes to chance whilst it was blinking. In order for me to achieve (the eye closing) I had to slowly alter the look of the eye. I had to darken the lens of it to make it appear that the eye was closing (step by step) and once the eye was fully closed I had to make sure the eyelashes were facing down.

Their was some problems when it came to transitioning the eye to be closed, the lashes were black and had either a white outline to them or a colourful outline to them, due to the eye colour being merged into it. I had to ensure that the eyelashes were noticeable so I coloured them in more black and tried my best to get rid of the vibrant colours that were on it.

What the white outline looked like on the bottom eyelashes - (the excess random dots were removed)

When it came to the white outline, at first I did not like how it made the eyelashes look, but now I really like it, it created a cool sleek shadow to it, so instead of removing it I kept it.

When it came to make the eye change colour, all I needed to do is arrange the colours in different areas of the eye to make it look as if they eye was spinning and changing colour. Doing this was not challenging at all. - ( all that was needed to do is to use bucket tool again and place the colours in different areas of the eye)

Here is some pictures of the step by step process -

The eye wide opened.

The lid slowly forming down to make the eye close.

The lid half way closed showing that the next step is the a fully shut eye.

The lid completely closed with lashes facing straight to the ground

Evaluation :

Overall

I am very delighted with the outcome of the way the logo looks, wether its on its own or on my work. This logo is going to be contributed a lot on my work and I am very pleased with that. The logo is everything how I visioned it and wanted it to be.

I am so happy that I got the chance to further my skills and knowledge on Photoshop, I can now say I am a bit more comfortable using the software Photoshop. With the help I had recieved and the skills that I have learned they will definitely be contributed if I ever get another project where I have to edit or design something on Adobe Photoshop.
