The final edit of my stop animation advert.

GOTHIC GIRL ADVERT - FOR 9+

For this work I had decided to contribute some of the sound from other doll adverts, especially the one I took inspiration off (monster high one)

Evaluation :

I am pleased with the outcome, but I know there is some improvement needed, I believe I should have got more clips and footage to make my advert longer, but then I realized doll adverts are normally short to help entertain a young audience.

I believe I could have made the lighting more better, as some of the scenes are very orange and the shadows present were very noticeable, maybe if the lighting was bit more faint and the ISO was a bit more adjusted then it would have not looked so Orange.

Editing Process

The problems I had faced with this task.....

This experience was the hardest especially when it came to editing and recording. I had faced a lot of difficulties and wanted to change my idea a lot, I felt like the lighting in the advert was not the same throughout the video, I tried various times to get it the same in editing but It just wasn't how I wanted it to be. I browsed the universal video effects to experiment, and eventually I found the BLUE INTENSE FILTER which helped made the color a bit more consistent throughout my work.

Screenshots of the editing process

When it came to editing the green screen, it was a tough process as well, the background wasn't as blended as I wanted it to be, plus one of my dolls were sort of green, so she blended with the green screen and made it look patchy and unrealistic, she even morphed and blended into the background. I tried my best to alter the effects in Premier pro, but decided to cut these videos out because they didn't really flow and go with my work at all.

As you can see from this picture her face is quite spotty, patchy and it looks like she has rash on her face, because she was kind of green it was hard to blend her into the green screen image.

Due to the fact that the green screen videos weren't being added to my work, I looked at alternative ways in which I could end my doll advert. I thought that it would be better if I could end my video with the logo, which was on doll box which said ''GOTHIC GIRL''

So I had opened up Adobe Photoshop, cropped the logo from the box, and changed the file to a PNG so it would be easy to place upon my work.

Here is what I had carved out and added to the end of my work.

Most doll adverts are quick and last a couple of seconds, so I was happy I found something to add to my work to add length & to enhance it, rather than leaving it unfinished. I feel like adding the logo made the video look professional, as most doll adverts have the picture of the branding logo either at the start of the video or the end.

Overall.......

The editing & production process was hard , but eventually I got through it and finished my work! I am so happy that I didn't go with the other idea I had (skittles) and was persistent with this idea, as it was my first choice and was something that was easy to work with.

From this task I had learned a lot, I learned to

Be patient & to use my time wisely.

Ensure that my equipment is fully charged before recording, and if not always have a backup camera battery.

That If I'm stuck on an idea experimenting is helpful, as it gives you the chance to explore your options and preview your idea before shooting.

I will make sure to use these learning experiences and options, when I am assigned my next project.
