Whilst on the BFI trip I was given a vast amount of tasks to do and complete.

Task 1 - To research and to find two secondary sources that I find useful and can take inspiration from, at the mediatheque.

The video that I decided to watch at the Mediatheque was Bullet boy and other people apart of my group decided to watch a movie about the windrush generation. We thought as a group, it would make sense if we both watched two different things and combined our ideas together.

On this post I will be talking about the movie Bullet boy and why I decided to watch it.

Bullet boy is a 2004 British Drama film that is directed by Saul Dibb. This film is about a guy called Ricky who has been freshly released from prison and collected by his friend named Wisdom. Wisdom is a very outlandish and an immature type of guy. He urgently hopes and yearns to develop himself in the neighborhood that he lives in. These boys simply can't stay out of trouble. As soon as they leave the station conflict stirs up. Wisdom ends up accidentally breaking a car window mirror of a gang leader and from there everything goes down hill. Me and Tatum decided to watch this, because it shows how life is for some teenagers living in London. In 2016 there is a lot of violence especially towards teenagers, On a daily basis people get stabbed and harmed, and a lot of it comes from gang activity. Senseless acts of violence which is quite sad. We wanted to some-how contribute this to our work, but then later on realized that we was supposed to be promoting our area, not discouraging anyone to come to London/ Brixton.

So it was helpful that other people from our group, decided to watch a video on the windrush which would help us as a group gain more information and contribute that research to our video, resulting in us educating people about the windrush event.

Task 2 - 60th BFI London Film Festival

On this task I was asked to write about the British Film Festival and why it is so popular.

A BFI POSTER

The BFI ( British film institute) is well known as a film and charitable organization, which aims to help elevate, advance and up-hold film making and television that originates from the UK. The BFI has a huge reputation, for being recognized as one of the world's best developed film festivals and as a main film event, Which is why it attracts many people daily to visit and explore the institute. The BFI is especially a good place for film students to attend, as they can get a glimpse and experience what its like to witness a well established film festival. They could start to research the establishment and watch films, or even get inspiration to submit their own creations and short films at this festival.

In its 60th year, The BFI will be partnered with American Express. On this day a variety of diverse films and events will be performed, which will be introduced by a director called Clare Stewart In the year 2016

This event will hold many films of different genres for people to watch. The festival will stream a sum of 52 documentary attributes, which will consist of 8 international premieres, 39 european premieres and last but not least 18 world premiers. The films that are present will be from all areas in the world and also produced by fresh and newly developed directors, attracting a lot of visitors who would be intrigued by these new short international films.

There will be additional screenings which would present a vast amount of 144 films, which would consist of animated, documentary and live action films, after the event viewers would even get the chance to ask questions to the members of the cast, crew and even the director of the film. I would say its a wonderful establishment, a perfect spot for film students to explore and just embrace the history of film, To be inspired and motivated, as this could be a place where they could achieve their dreams and become a director.

Below is all the pictures I had taken at the film festival.
