Napoleon Dynamite // Film Review

Today my tutor Emma made the whole class watch Napolen Dynamite. After watching it she then gave us our first homework task which was to write a film review on it.

Napolen Dynamite is an American movie which was produced in 2004 by several people, Jeremy Coon, Chris Wyatt, Sean C. Covel and Jory Weitz. The story is set in Preston, Idaho.

The movie is an american high-school themed movie. It showcases the life of a boy named Napoleon Dynamite who does not really fit in, in fact he is seen as the reject of the school he attends. His appearance is skinny and tall and he is known to be socially awkward. Napoleon is just your stereotypical nerd. He is tall, has big glasses and also has goofy facial expressions. Despite him being a reject at school he does gain friendship with a guy similar to him called Pedro. Pedro is the only hispanic person at his school and aspires to be class president. In this movie we see they're somewhat perfect for each other as they're both anti-social and weird. Napoleon also becomes friends with a girl named Deb who is very timid and quiet, she owns many small business to help her earn money to go to college. Pedro, Deb and Napoleon are so alike. There friendship group made become a group of outcasts.

In this film, Napoleon faces difficulties in high school as he has problems tacking bullying, he is seen as a target to jocks especially to a guy named Don who is a sports jock. Napoleon also spends his time drawing ligers his favourite animal in a sketch book ( crossbred of lion and tiger)

Kip Dynamite - Napoleon's brother

In this movie, we also get to see the life of Napoleon's relatives, such as his old brother Kip who is 32 and unemployed. We see Kip as a guy who is desperate to find love as he spends hours on chat rooms trying to speak to ''internet babes'' in the future he wants to become a professional cage fighter, which adds even more humour to the film as his appearance could never resemble a mean eating machine, cage fighter. Everything turns out great for him as he secures a relationship with someone he met online called Lafawnduh and they eventually meet. Eventually they get married at the end of the film.

We even get to see the life of Napoleon's Uncle Rico, who had to look after Napoleon and his brother, due to the fact that his grandmother has a secret life where she goes on adventurous trips and quad biking in the desert with her mysterious boyfriends. unfortunately when on her trip she broke her coccyx. Which resulted in Rico coming down to look after Napoleon.

I recommend anyone to watch this film who wants to watch a movie that is unique and very comical. One good feature is that this movie is not like any other american high school themed movie. It does not include any sexual themes and there is hardly any swearing, which makes it an age appropriate film for children to watch as the ratings are (PG). Now in 2016, it is very uncommon to watch an American high school themed movie without sexual themes. Making this film very appealing to people who don't like to watch inappropriate scenes.

Its the type of comedy film that would be relatable, especially to teenagers who have been bullied before and teenagers that are quirky, as Napoleon Dynamite is all of those things. This movie is honestly so interesting and very creative you could see that there has been a lot work contributed to make this movie stand out. This movie also has a very nostalgic vibe and theme towards it, which makes it even more interesting to watch.

This movie is guaranteed to make you burst out laughing, especially when you see the dances moves Napoleon makes. There is many scenes where you would be laughing and you would be wondering why am I even laughing. This movie is just naturally funny where there is no effort made for you to be laughing yet you still do.
